Geotechnical:
Foundations
A
foundation includes the earth that supports the structure
and the portion of the structure that transfers the load to
the earth. When Barr consults for a foundation, we consider
the initial investigations and testing, the behavior of the
soil or rock, the interaction of the geotechnical/structural
system, and the structural design of the foundation.
Our
geologists, geotechnical engineers, and structural engineers
use a suite of computer programs to model stress, strain,
deformation, pore pressures, settlement, consolidation and
other factors. We analyze and design of a wide range of foundation
systems, including steel pile, mass concrete, and reinforced
concrete. We also have substantial experience with geosynthetics
and soil improvement techniques such as grouting, dynamic
compaction, and drainage.
Our
experience encompasses:
- Settlement
- Bearing capacity
- Liquefaction
- Spread footings
- Caissons
- Piles
- Pavements and slabs
- Soil modification and improvement
