Sustainable Landscape Architecture:
Natural Resource Inventories and Management
Plans
With
development pressure mounting and invasive species on the
rise, natural areas have become both precious and precarious.
By identifying and mapping open-space types, natural resource
inventories (NRIs) help agencies and municipalities understand,
prioritize, and protect their resources. Inventory data can
help inform land-use planning and development, clarify the
area's value of wildlife habitat or water quality, and point
out degraded areas and management problems.
A natural resources management plan uses NRI data and other
research to recommend ways to preserve, restore, and maintain
irreplaceable open spaces.
Barr’s diverse team of landscape ecologists and biologists
has spent countless hours in prairies, wetlands, woodlands,
and forests and is experienced in the Minnesota Land Cover
Classification System (MLCCS), the standard method for conducting
NRIs in the state. Our expert writers, graphic artists, GIS
technicians, and web designers make sure the data is presented
clearly and concisely.
