Assessment and Remediation:
Groundwater Services
Barr
routinely performs groundwater sampling as part of contaminated
site investigations and remedial action effectiveness monitoring
programs. Our staff is experienced with a variety of sampling
techniques, including low flow sampling protocols for trace
(ng/L) analyses of PAHs and mercury.
We
also have groundwater modeling and contaminant transport assessment
specialists on staff. Their expertise includes developing
regional-scale and site-specific groundwater flow and contaminant
transport models for a variety of contaminated-site investigation
and remediation projects, as well as for wellhead protection
studies. These projects involve two- and three-dimensional
steady-state and transient modeling.
Our
groundwater specialists consider a wide range of alternatives
when determining solutions for remediating contaminated groundwater:
- Air sparging
- Groundwater pumpout and treatmentUV/oxidation, packed
tower aeration, granular activated carbon adsorption, organophilic
adsorption media, biological treatment, cascade aeration
- Monitored natural attenuation
- Plume management
- Isolation by barriers (for example, slurry walls)
