Careers @ Barr:
Career Development
Of
course, learning doesnt stop when you get your diploma.
Most professional development occurs on the job, facing real
challenges and working on real projects. That development
is accelerated by the opportunity to work with some of the
region's most talented and experienced professionals.
Barr also supports career development with
targeted programs:
- New-employee support helps people get off to a good start.
A new-employee sponsor answers questions and helps you get
situated. Internal training programs provide perspective
on your career at Barr. New-employee lunches address specific
topics and concerns.
- Individual education accounts provide employees with their
own annual budgets for attending seminars and conferences,
pursuing advanced degrees, or getting specific career-related
training.
- Informal lunchtime technical brownbag
sessions cover topics ranging from
microbial degradation of organic compounds to centrifugal
pump technology to preventing scope creep on projects.
- Internal professional development
training programs are conducted on an ongoing basis, and
provide opportunity for growth in your career at Barr.
Training sessions in various formats—classroom seminars,
webinars, panel discussions—cover everything from technical
and regulatory topics to business development and project
management.
- Coaching and mentoring programs provide every employee
with a coach to help with career development and, if theyd
like one, a mentor with whom they can discuss larger career
and life issues.
- Library resources include three full-time staff to help
with data-gathering and research. We subscribe to a full
complement of technical, trade, and business journals to
