Who We Are and What We Do

The one-man shop Doug Barr opened in 1953 was incorporated as an employee-owned firm in 1966 and has since grown to over 350 people. But Doug’s ideals remain firmly in place: Treat all employees like adults and expect them to work responsibly, while providing an environment that enables them to do their best work.

Barr’s excellent reputation depends on its people. Who are we? We are young and old, come from many states and nations, and have a wide variety of scientific and technical backgrounds. Many of us have advanced degrees; many are recognized as regional experts.

What we all share is enthusiasm for our work. And we focus on one thing:

Helping clients with the development, management, and restoration of natural resources.

We work in four main areas:

• Assessment and remediation of contaminated sites
