What Interns Do at Barr

Internships@Barr:
What Interns Do at Barr

Our interns tell us that what they like most about Barr internships is the opportunity to learn by doing. At Barr, they work on a variety of projects and perform many different tasks. Some recent work that Barr interns have done includes:

  • structural design
  • emissions testing
  • field sampling
  • data collection and analysis
  • landscape design
  • excavation oversight
  • report preparation
  • proposal assistance

Along with gaining real experience, Barr’s interns are eligible to apply for the John Dickson Scholarship, awarded to each year's outstanding interns. As an added bonus, we often hire interns after they graduate—so your internship at Barr could lead to a challenging and rewarding career here.

Read this article written by a former intern and published in the University of Minnesota, Duluth student paper on October 19, 2006 for a real account of what it is like to intern at Barr.

“I would recommend a Barr internship to others because the project managers do a great job getting you involved with projects you are interested in. It is a great way to see the environmental consulting field.”
