Kaeding and Associates

Date: October 22, 2007
Contact: Doug Connell, 952-832-2722

MINNEAPOLIS, MN—Barr Engineering Company has announced its acquisition of Kaeding and Associates, a Minneapolis-based electrical engineering firm.

The acquisition nearly doubles the size of Barr’s electrical engineering staff and expands its capacity in power distribution and generation, controls and instrumentation, lighting, and communications. According to Barr vice president John Quist, major service areas for Kaeding have been electrical engineering for water and wastewater treatment facilities, high-voltage power distribution, upgrades to systems and substation design, and the design of power systems for municipalities, utilities, and industry.

“The engineers and technical specialists joining Barr from Kaeding and Associates have a great reputation in the market area served by Barr,” Quist notes. “They have been the electrical engineering firm of choice for municipalities and other consultants for years.”

This is Barr’s second acquisition in two months. In September, Barr completed the purchase of Service Engineering Group, an environmental engineering firm based in the Twin Cities and Duluth.

Barr is a consulting firm providing engineering, environmental, and information technology services to clients in the public and private sectors, primarily in the upper Midwest but also across the country and around the globe. Barr has a staff of more than 400 and offices in Minneapolis, Duluth, and Hibbing, Minnesota; Ann Arbor, Michigan; and Jefferson City, Missouri.
