Bethany Kelly

Bethany has more than 15 years of geotechnical engineering experience, primarily serving power and mining clients in Michigan, the upper Midwest, and the western United States. She leads field investigations involving in-situ testing and sampling, instrumentation installation, and hydraulic interconnection studies. Bethany also conducts seepage, stability, and deformation analyses of hydroelectric and tailings-basin dams and ash facilities. She has served as the technical lead or engineer of record for more than 20 dam design and rehabilitation projects as well as assisted with permitting and construction. Her other areas of expertise include risk assessments and dam safety reviews and analysis of high-wall and spoil-pile stability for mines. Bethany was a board member of the Twin Cities’ Society of Mining, Metallurgy, and Exploration (SME) chapter for nearly 13 years before transferring to Barr’s Ann Arbor office in 2021. She is currently a member of the United States Society of Dams (USSD), Association of State Dam Safety Officials (ASDSO), and National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE).
