Studying the possible use of landfills for solar development

As solar development rapidly increases in the U.S., so has the demand for suitable land for solar projects. A recently published report by the Minnesota Environmental Quality Board (EQB) evaluates the potential for using the 110 sites in the state’s Closed Landfill Program for solar development. To assist with this study, the EQB hired Barr for stakeholder engagement and a technical assessment of the sites. Click here to view the report and Barr’s technical assessment.

On December 9 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. CST, the EQB and Barr will host a free webinar to present the results of the feasibility study and allow for questions from attendees. The webinar will cover the potential for solar development on state-managed closed landfills, barriers to development, and policy recommendations. To register for the webinar, click here.
