Greta Backman

Geotechnical Engineer

Greta Backman has nearly five years of experience working for mining clients in Minnesota and Wyoming as well as for public sector natural resource management clients. She conducts geotechnical engineering analyses and assists with preparing designs for tailings-basin dams, levees, earth embankment dams, and slope stabilization systems. She also conducts dam safety inspections and subsurface investigations using soil borings, rock coring, vane shear testing, and cone penetration testing. Greta’s other areas of interest include analysis of high-wall and spoil-pile stability for mines, geomorphology of large river systems, and monitoring instrumentation. Prior to Barr, she worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, where she analyzed proposed design modifications for levees and participated in levee and dam inspections.
