Brian Albrecht, Juan Tapia, Kurt Sobczynski, and Nathan Miller join Barr

Barr adds a senior geotechnical engineer and a senior electrical engineer in Minneapolis, a senior mechanical engineer in Duluth, and an electrical engineer in Bismark.

Brian Albrecht, PhD, PE, is a senior geotechnical engineer with 13 years of experience on geotechnical and environmental projects. He works on projects that involve settlement and slope stability analyses, onsite field investigation and monitoring, flood-control system design, and installation of remote monitoring systems. Brian will be joining the Minneapolis office.

Senior electrical engineer Juan Tapia, PE, has 12 years of experience providing electrical engineering services for industrial, heavy-commercial, institutional, healthcare, and retail clients. While working out of Barr’s Minneapolis office, he will assist clients with low- and medium-voltage distribution design and schematic design.

Kurt Sobczynski, PE, is a senior mechanical engineer in Barr’s Duluth office with nearly 25 years of experience in the hydropower and pulp and paper industries. Before joining Barr, he held engineering and supervisory positions at Boise Paper Solutions and provided hydropower-related engineering services as head of his own company, Northland Engineering of International Falls. At Barr, he will work with clients on hydropower and plant betterment projects.

Nathan Miller, PE, has joined Barr’s Bismark office as an electrical engineer with nine years of experience. Nate’s work in the transportation, renewable energy, and industrial industries along with his understanding of arc flash studies and load flow analyses enables him to provide clients with safe electrical design.
