Barr’s Mike Mayer to moderate webinar on birds and the energy industry

On December 6, Barr senior environmental review scientist Mike Mayer will lead “Birds and Energy: A Discussion of the Impacts of Power Generation and Transmission on Birds and the Laws that Protect Them.” The webinar, sponsored by the National Association of Environmental Professionals, will provide an overview of the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act, the Endangered Species Act, and other laws designed to protect birds. Experts from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association, Southern California Edison, Pacific Gas & Electric, and Puget Sound Energy will discuss how the industry is working to reduce impacts on bird species.
