Nels Nelson Memorial Fellowship awarded

April 6, 2018

Vincius Taguchi, a master’s candidate at the St. Anthony Falls Laboratory of the University of Minnesota, was awarded the 2018 Nels Nelson Memorial Fellowship during a special seminar in late March. Established by Barr and the university in memory of Nels Nelson, a water resources engineer and chair of Barr’s board of directors who passed away in 2010, the fellowship is awarded annually to a master’s student pursuing a water resources-related degree at SAFL. Vincius’s research focuses on phosphorus dynamics in urban environments.

Christian Frias gave the seminar’s Distinguished Lecture on mitigation measures for geyser events in stormwater tunnel systems. Several other Barr staff members were in attendance as was Nels’s wife, Kathy. Click here to read a University of Minnesota article about the event.
