Hall’s Island reconstruction project wins ReScape award

November 19, 2018

At an awards ceremony in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board’s Hall’s Island design and reconstruction project was honored with a ReScape Award in the Environmental Impact category.

The project created three acres of new habitat in the river and improved biodiversity in a heavily industrial Minneapolis neighborhood with limited access to natural areas and the river. Hall’s Island and the adjacent riverfront park will also provide recreational and educational opportunities to underserved communities.

Honoring exemplary redevelopment projects, the ReScape Awards are given by Minnesota Brownfields, which promotes cleanup and reuse of contaminated land.
