Highway reconstruction project wins engineering award

January 28, 2019

The reconstruction of flood-damaged Minnesota Highway 210 has been named a Grand Award winner in the transportation category in the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC)/Minnesota Engineering Excellence contest.

Barr served as the lead and geotechnical engineers in the rebuild of the highway and repair of 74 surrounding slopes damaged by rain-induced slides in 2012. Barr provided geotechnical investigations of the failed slopes, developed stabilization designs and a long-term monitoring system, and provided environmental compliance assistance to support construction. The highway re-opened in 2017.
