Summary

The person selected for this position will work on air-quality projects involving environmental monitoring and problem-solving. The work will include air-emissions sampling and data collection at industrial facilities, monitoring equipment calibration and maintenance, laboratory analysis and data reduction, and assistance with report preparation for submittal to clients and regulatory authorities. This role also may assist with ambient air-quality monitoring, indoor air-quality sampling, and meteorological data collection and processing. Work will include both travel to and work at client facilities and completion of responsibilities in the Minneapolis office.

Summary

Internship will involve taking on challenging and progressive work on projects involving design, planning, and problem-solving in the civil and structural engineering field. Project responsibilities may include design using CADD modeling software and assistance with construction plans and specifications. These activities will be related to the design of two dimensional (2D) and three dimensional (3D) modeling. The intern in this position will support our internal project teams by creating, preparing, modifying and managing drawings, specifications and models for design documents. The work will be primarily related to industrial processing facilities, power plants, refineries, and other heavy industrial facilities.

  • Pursuing an AA or AS degree in CADD technology or related field

Summary

Barr Engineering is seeking an environmental intern to join its Duluth office for the summer of 2019. This intern will undertake challenging and progressive work on projects related to the evaluation and remediation of contaminated sites. Assignments may include working as an individual or as part of a project team to assist with any of the following tasks: onsite investigations of contaminated soil, vapor, sediment, and groundwater; environmental site assessments; construction observation; engineering calculations; data summary tables and spreadsheets; and technical reports. Field work opportunities for this position may include some out-of-town travel.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Environmental, chemical, geological, or civil engineering or geology major, or other related engineering major
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0

Summary

Barr Engineering Co. is searching for a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join the Hibbing, MN office. The person selected for this position will work on project teams involving mechanical engineering and related technical assignments. Project assignments may include collecting field information, providing on-site construction assistance, completing engineering calculations and analyses, selecting equipment and components, preparing design drawings and specifications, writing technical reports, preparing sketches for system arrangement, and developing details of designs.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum GPA of at least 3.2
  • Ongoing enrollment in Mechanical Engineering degree program
  • At least two semesters of physics and three semesters of mathematics
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Windows OS and Microsoft Office software
