Getting our start

Since opening the Salt Lake City office in 2016, Barr has become a leading engineering and environmental consultant in the Intermountain West, serving clients in California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Utah, and Wyoming. Following our 2018 acquisition of Sage Environmental, LLC, we’ve continued to expand by hiring local industry experts and emphasizing our integration of engineering and environmental disciplines, along with a consistent focus on collaboration, long-term client relationships, and project-specific solutions.

Serving our clients

Barr’s Salt Lake City staff serve a wide range of industries, including mining, fuels, and manufacturing, as well as the public sector. We’re active members of professional organizations such as the Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration (SME), Women in Mining, the Utah Petroleum Association, and the Air & Waste Management Association’s Great Basin chapter. With comprehensive experience in planning, permitting, and design, our local team helps clients manage the complexities of the West’s geography, arid climate, and natural resources—especially water.
