John Gefferth

John joined Barr after gaining nearly 40 years of experience with the mining and energy industries as a direct hire and a consultant. He spent the bulk of his career at  CONSOL Energy Inc., finishing out his tenure there as director of permitting for coal operations. He then served as a principal at two engineering and environmental consulting firms. John's background spans all aspects of surface and underground mining projects, from permitting to operations to closure; it also encompasses regulatory affairs, environmental remediation, compliance auditing, health and safety, due diligence, NEPA, and mergers and acquisitions.

At Barr, John scopes and manages engineering, environmental review, water treatment, permitting, and compliance projects in the mining and fuels sectors. On behalf of clients, he interacts with federal, state, and local government officials; non-governmental and regulatory agencies; resource managers; technical experts; and the public.
