Three Utah Safety Council awards go to Barr

Last week at the Utah Safety Council's Annual Meeting & Safety Awards Presentation, Barr received the Award of Merit, Perfect Record Award, and Million Hours Award in recognition of our commitment to safety. Mining geotechnical engineer Emily Rose and health and safety coordinator Christy Miller attended the event to accept the awards on behalf of Barr.

The Award of Merit was based on our Salt Lake City office’s safety program, low incidence rate, and sustained level of safety excellence. The Perfect Record Award was also given to the Salt Lake City office for not incurring a single Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recordable injury or illness, day away from work, or death.

The Million Hours Award is a company-wide recognition, awarded to Barr for recording over one million (and counting) consecutive employee-hours without incurring an OSHA recordable injury or illness, day away from work, or death.

Barr’s employee owners have agreed on and are committed to workplace health and safety as a core shared value that requires our constant attention. It is our overarching goal to confirm that all our coworkers, as well as all people affected by our work, are safe. Our concern motivates us to strive continually for no incidents or injuries at work.
