From mountains to sea
Seattle has seen many incarnations over the decades. It’s been a logging town, a place where airplanes are built, the birthplace of grunge music, and the origin of modern technology. It may even be responsible for our culture’s addiction to coffee—you know who we’re talking about. But Seattle is also peaceful forests, active volcanoes, tide pools brimming with life, and orca pods that migrate through Puget Sound. You’ll come for the Space Needle and Pike Place Market, but you’ll stay for the variety of fantastic cuisine and year-round outdoor activities. Seattle’s reputation may be one of rainy skies, but its reality is so much more.
Getting our start
Established in 2025, our Seattle office began when the staff of Windward Environmental LLC joined Barr. Windward, an environmental consulting firm, had been founded on the premise that environmental consultants could best serve clients’ interests by providing high-quality, defensible data based on sound scientific principles. The Seattle office has an established reputation for providing clients with superior service—regardless of the size or complexity of the project.
Serving our clients
We offer clients an array of services, including NPDES permitting support, ecological risk assessment expertise, litigation support, and regulation compliance and performance monitoring, as well as assistance in a variety of other areas relating to the environment. Our team includes the original developers of the biotic ligand model (BLM), an internationally used tool that can predict the bioavailability of metals under a range of water chemistry conditions. We have worked with not only local clients, but with those in Europe, Australia, and South America, bringing our expertise to the international stage.
