Minnetonka Mills Park design

Minnetonka Mills Park design

design embraces natural features of site

Barr helped the city of Minnetonka create a new park along Minnehaha Creek and in association with the historic Burwell House. Our design enables visitors to experience the creek, historic house, and groves of towering oak trees in a way that does not impact the natural resources of the 12-acre site.

The design for the park’s Heritage Garden features a series of stone terraces with free-standing stone walls that weave between oak trees. We also minimized the use of traditional lawn while strategically locating it in areas that accommodate large events.

The master plan also includes a cherry orchard, canoe landing, low-impact parking lots, streambank restoration, bike trail, restroom facilities, and streetscaping.
