Barr President and CEO John Lee announces plans to step down, support leadership transition

John will follow a rich tradition of Barr CEOs who remain with the company after serving in the CEO position, and he will support the onboarding process for his successor.

“On behalf of Barr’s board of directors, I’d like to thank John for his outstanding leadership during our company’s latest chapter of growth and progress,” said Board Chair Tina Pint.

“From day one, John’s strong commitment to Barr’s vision and values has defined his approach to leadership of our company, and we are grateful for his contributions and legacy. Barr is in a very strong position as we prepare for our next chapter of CEO leadership.”

John notified Barr’s board of directors of his plans to transition from the CEO role in mid-2020. Since that time, a CEO selection committee has been working to identify Barr’s next leader from among a group of talented internal candidates, all of whom are experts in their fields and share a commitment to sustaining Barr’s culture, values, and focus on delivering exceptional client experiences. Barr’s next president and CEO will be named in June 2021 and will assume the role by August 2021.

“It’s been the privilege of a lifetime to serve as the leader of this very special company,” said John Lee. “I’ll relish the opportunity to support the success of Barr’s next president and CEO, and I’m excited to contribute to Barr’s next chapter of growth and progress.”
