Tanks and terminals

Barr has been providing air quality permitting and compliance services to crude-oil and refined-product terminals for more than 20 years. We specialize in working with clients to develop customized tools and solutions to simplify compliance management. In addition, we regularly review projects for air permit implications, provide air permitting strategy support, assist in obtaining new construction permits, and modify existing permits.

Barr also has extensive experience calculating emissions from both fixed- and floating-roof storage tanks storing various organic liquids. We developed the Barr Tank Emission Calculation Spreadsheet (BTECS), which is a free Microsoft Excel-based tool designed to calculate emissions from storage tanks that follows the US EPA’s AP-42 Chapter 7 emission estimation procedures to calculate volatile organic compound (VOC) and hazardous air pollutant (HAP).

This map shows U.S. states and Canadian provinces where Barr has provided services to clients in the fuels sector.
